Triple Play: A Game Plan for the Mind, Body and Soul

Triple Play, sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company, is a dynamic wellness program currently being offered in Boys & Girls Clubs that demonstrates how eating right, keeping fit and forming positive relationships add up to a healthy lifestyle. The goal of the Triple Play program is to improve Club members' knowledge of healthy habits; increase the number of hours per day they participate in physical activities; and strengthen their ability to interact positively with others and engage in positive relationships.

Program components include:

  •     Healthy Habits Nutrition Curriculum
  •     Daily Challenges
  •     Sports Clubs
  •     Triple Play Games
  •     Social Recreation

Triple Play Parents Game Plan

Because parents play such a critical role in the development of a child’s physical and social well-being, BGCA and Coca-Cola produced a tool, Triple Play Parents Game Plan, that can be used at home — where healthy habits start, are modeled and reinforced. It is available in both English and Spanish. Learn more about Triple Play.

We are excited to announce that Triple Play is funded by:

Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI)

Through a collaboration with Major League Baseball, Boys & Girls Clubs of America has expanded or established baseball and fast-pitch softball programs in more than 150 communities nationwide. All RBI leagues incorporate Quick SMART!, a condensed version of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s SMART Moves prevention/education program designed to teach players to avoid alcohol and other drug use and premature sexual involvement.

The Jr. RBI program gives baseball and softball opportunities for youth ages 6-12. It also serves as a feeder to the current RBI program, which focuses on youth ages 13-18. There are three recommended age divisions of play for Jr. RBI: 6-7, 8-10 and 11-12. Each division has its own set of rules designed to develop young players. In divisions with players ages 6-10, the emphasis is on teaching the fundamentals of baseball and making it fun. Divisions for players ages 11-12 may be utilized as an introduction to competitive baseball and softball. Player safety is a priority for Jr. RBI. For baseball programs, playing rules are designed to protect pitchers. A pitch count is utilized in order to accurately track the stress on young players’ developing bodies.

NFL Youth Football

The National Football League Youth Football Fund helps local Boys & Girls Clubs to start, expand or enhance tackle or flag football programs. The program also consists of a Youth Football Summit and recognition program for coaches and players.
